Many a 246 had Ferrari badges added when new from the dealers/Maranello Concessionaires as owners wanted to reinforce the cars Ferrari links.

(By the same token, many also had Ferrari badges added later for the same reason)

As noted elsewhere though, whoever fitted the Cavallino could have at least fitted it at the correct angle!

Thanks, All, for your kind comments. Yes, I am indeed a lucky man, and it is absolutely as nice to drive as it is to behold. Takes a while to get used to the "upside down" gearshift gate (first is bottom left, second top middle and so on), the fact that the working range of both rev counter and speedo are obscured by the steering wheel, and the almost complete lack of torque below 2,000 rpm (a bit of a change from my 550!!), but otherwise it is an amazingly user-friendly piece of kit and the sound from that sweet little V6 just behind you as you hit 7,000 rpm is pure music. Contrary to the idea that it is built for midgets with long arms and short legs, I find the driving position excellent for a six footer with anglo-saxon proportions.

The prancing horse was originally fitted by Maranello before the first owner took delivery. No idea when the Ferrari script was added.

That is a beautiful car.

I met a chap yesterday who was driving a 65 plate California. I asked if he enjoyed the V8 and he replied that he didn't know if it was a V8 or not? (It's a twin turbo V8) I would know every inch of a car like at if I was lucky enough to own it.

I prefer the classics and that is a fine example in a stunning colour combo. Enjoy
