So I went ahead and got myself a stunning Rosso Mars Huracan 580-2 ! Very sad to see my Mclaren 12C go, but the Huracan is in a different league in terms of drama, build quality and looks! I am totally blown away by it tbh, had a very long drive up to Beachy Head yesterday evening and the car feels alive, chaotic mechanical bedlam just behind your head - so many noises, it's very very addictive isn't it!

Paul and Eloise at Lamborghini Tunbridge Wells were amazing, great dealership and buying experience!

So few questions

PPF - do you guys recommend getting full car PPF - my car is immaculate no stone chips or scratches when i bought it, i've never owned such a pristine car before! Would i expect to pay around £5k for this? Do the PPF companies detail the car beforehand ? I've driven my car a few times since owning it and now have a tiny stone chip on the nose and i am very peed off!!!

Battery charger - i've opened the small compartment in the frunk and it has a lead attached to the compartment and then inside it looks like another terminal - are these the positive and negative terminals ?

I have a MP7423 6/12 volt MAYPOLE charger - which has bulldog clip ends and also a plug in type end - would this be ok for the Huracan?

Re the charger - you might want to check now but the Lambo/Ferrari etc chargers were rebadged Ctek with an extra nought on the price. the Gallardo one was a Ctek, also available badged as a Yuasa.

Google for pics of the connectors and you'll see if it fits.

Congratulations! Absolutely stunning looking car. I saw it for sale some time ago and was tempted to buy it myself.

Stunning car, would love one of these.

I would recommend PPF if you plan on keeping it, My McLaren had full PPF and i picked up a stone check on the side and it put a slight tear in the PPF, if it wasn't done that would have been a nasty scratch in a very visible area.

For the sake of £5K (and if you plan on keeping it a while) then 100%

Now I don't like red on a Huracan, but I like yours, looks stunning.

Welcome to the club. Re charging, I went Ctech (works great), and just use the traditional positive and negative connectors. Takes a matter of seconds to attach, you will see a Plus and Minus sign on the areas for attachment.

Enjoy

Congrats! Lovely car in an absolutely amazing colour. I had a Rosso Mars Huracan too (and also moved from a McLaren 650S).

I’d recommend at least leading edge PPF - bonnet, wing mirrors and wings. I had Suntek but found it a bit thin so got Xpel on my Perf when I had that done. It’s just over half the price for the leading edges. The place I used have a once over with a machine polisher to clean down the surfaces but I think you have to pay a bit more for a full detail. Whether you need that depends on if you have swirls.

On the charging cable I ditched the Lambo charger and got a CTEK 5.0 which works on AGM batteries.

Enjoy your wonderful car!

So I am using this charger - Lamborghini tunbridge wells said it was ok to use - simply connected the clips to the battery positive and negative metal bars that are slightly above the battery - charger was showing green display when I left it for a a few hours, so I am assuming that means it’s ok??

I plugged charger into the wall socket ( power at wall switched off ) then connected clips to the battery then switched on at the wall - initially the charger showed a red display, then after 3-4 hours i checked and it showed green, with full battery symbol on the right of the display

Just wanted to check this is all correct, I am off to NYC for 10 days holiday, so super paranoid it won’t keep the battery charged or I’ve done something wrong!!

The price for a full PPF and detailing was around £8k. The body work on my car is immaculate, no swirls or scratches at all, a tiny stone chip on the nose, got whilst driving it home frown so I guess it wouldn’t need the full detailing -

I am really not clued up on ppf and if it’s worth it, surely if the car gets stone chips or scratches it can be detailed and fixed every year or so, at much lower cost??? PPF doesn’t totally protect does it, just trying to work out if the protection of the paint justifies the expensive, or is it just a gimmick with no real use, just the fear factor of getting your pride and joy damaged !?

Does ppf mean it’s easier to wash, so you are not scared of scratching the car yourself, bird mess won’t damage the car if left on for a few days, etc etc???? Keeps it cleaner longer ??? I am aware that the majority of the time the UK aid wet roads and dirty, so is PPF going to help keep the car in better condition long term - hope to keep the car 1-2 years

PPF gives you peace of mind.
You don’t have to do the whole car.
Anyway £8k seems steep.

Congratulations on your new car - looks great in that colour. I had the same sorts of questions as you earlier this year as I bought an F8 (a few steps up from my previous cars so my first supercar). I ended up using Gemclean Detailing who are just outside Reading (I may have missed where you are) and were very good at explaining the options on PPF and detailing and did not try and upsell. I ended up going for a track pack (although I don‘t intend to track it) which covers the front and then up the side to avoid stone clips being flicked onto the lower half of the car. The PPF itself cost (from memory) £2850 plus VAT, and I had a stage 1 polish done before that along with ceramic treatment after the PPF was applied. The car looked/looks like new and is very easy to keep clean.

Thank you for the replies - I’ve got a quote from Creative FX aim Bromley who Lamborghini Tunbridge Wells recommended - priced at £3250 plus vat - that’s for the full car with XPEL PPF - this sounds more reasonable for the whole car - pre PPF detailing would be extra - for the small stone chip I have already any recommendations?

I’ve had two cars done at creative FX (based on recommendations) including most recently my Performante (which they have pics of on the website while being done). I can’t recommend them enough and they are very competitive in price. I agree your 8k quite seems way steep.
