Giant ad on mobile home page.

Was trying to find the MR2 sprint thing article I saw on Ph's Facebook. Went onto the homepage and it annoying dumped me on the mobile site, and I got attacked by a giant mcdonalds advert.

No option to close it, and it made me hungry. I demand a free burger for compensation of this horrible incident

Is the ad still appearing? If so, are you able to grab a screenshot?

I managed to get a screenshot yesterday, Will. It loaded up to full page, then after a few seconds it retracted back to the banner.

Just happened with me using iPod to view the Lotus Carlton write up.

Giant McYuck advert scrolled down, but no little X to click it off...then it scrolled back up, just as I clicked off to re-fresh the page & look at something else.

Understood, but when Ted sold to the current owners the site changed in many ways one change has the been the creeping introduction to ads to the point where its silly.

Not saying I'm not going to be using the site going forward but having to deal with downloading a page of Maccy D's advert on the mobile site is friggin ridiculous... oh and how someone wants to lend me money at 1000apr.... or how I can loose weight.... bla bla bla..... not the PH of 4 years ago.

Though you are not comparing like with like.

When the site was bought it was doing a quarter of the traffic it does now, had less content, less staff and operating costs were much much smaller... so surely the revenue for this has to be generated somehow.

Though saying that, the mobile site is a little different to the core of the business as it is a deal with a third party so we are still having teething issues with the types of ads they display, including those that cover content - they should not.

We are very specific that the content of our site comes first and advertising second, so we try to limit the obstruction an advert has on the site. This Macdonalds advert obviously breaks that so we will have a word to see what the issue is and why it is being so annoying (I haven't seen it on my mobile yet)
