Threads across multiple forums

Wouldn't it be good if you could link a thread to appear in more than one forum if appropriate, and update in both accordingly.

Example: A Jaguar thread to appear in the Jaguar section & Classic Car and Yesterday's Heros.

Not at all, each thread has a unique ID which is not related to or dependent on the forum it's in. Then there will be a table linking the two, which could have multiple records for each thread.

I'd suggest that it should allow for only one alternative forum to be displayed in. That'd cover most requirements. Anymore than that, and I'd agree, it becomes a bit of a moderator nightmare.

The thread author should be allowed to chose the secondary forum.

It is an interesting concept and one we will think about. We would have to model the whole process flow first to work out if it is feasible, so in that sense it will take a while to look at.

The issue that I could see from the outset is that it would leave some forums a bit pointless - for example news and politics, would probably always have a secondary topic in the lounge. Thus it would stop the segregation of the sections.

I will keep an open mind on this, and we will discuss how it works.

Just don't make the lounge an option to be the secondary (or primary even perhaps) option if a thread is to be allowed across more than a single forum. You might even want to exempt the entire P&P (at least at the outset).

I can see it would have some merit in marque, technical or regional fora.
