...that on Chrome, running in Ubuntu, calling up the window for classifieds photographs results in a window without min/max/close buttons? The only way to close said window is to right-click the process and shut it down.

That sounds more like a bug for Google rather than PH. I've seen it elsewhere on Chrome on Linux.
