'Load without pics' option?

Is it possible to load pages without images?
I check PH on my mobile every now and then (perhaps more often than that
) but I never check some of the threads I contribute to because I know there's millions of pictures that will take hours to load and munch my download limit thing, to see things I've already seen. Which is frustrating if I'm following or have commented on a picture based thread and want to see replies to a post I've made!
We also have issues with mega slow internet at work at lunchtimes, so again I don't tend to bother loading threads that I know have loads of pictures.
Ideally I'd like the option to load all pages without images, and a button I could press to show images in a specific thread page if I decide I'd like to see.
As I know feck-all about how the internet works though I'm guessing that may not be as easy as it is in my head
Or is there a way I can do this? (I don't understand things that don't bolt together!)

I understand all of the words in the sentence, but I don't 'get' the assembly! How would I go about changing the settings, particularly in my phone to see it this way?The phone's an iPhone 3G and I use the mobile website if that helps...?!

You don't need to jailbreak the phone. You can download Opera mini for free that has the option to turn off images. Frik said:

I was hoping there'd be a pretty easy way of stopping loading pictures, that's all. If it involves downloading whole new programs for my phone, it's going to end in tears if I'm involved.
