I realise cross posting can be an issue but sometimes it is very difficult to decide where to post a thread for widest coverage. That is why I put the James Burke documentary topic in two areas - Planes and TV.
I expect response will be low now because of teh narrower coverage the Planes forum gets.
What are we supposed to do in these circumstances?
I am surprsied at how keen the TV thread was closed when we often have multiple threads on other topics - such as the riots or other TV programmes. There are two Big Brother threads in the TV area alone.
If the mods are going to be zealous in stopping multiple thtreads, at least be consistent.

As you say Eric consistency, we always try to be consistent that's why your cross post was closed, I'm not aware that we make any acceptations.

If you want me to be consistent, then I'll delete the thread, as we normally do.
I gave you and your subject matter some personal respect and simply locked one and pointed to the other; rather than a simple delete.
But consistency is clearly more important. So please advise which one to delete and I'll be happy to do so.

I'm not that concerned about it - but we sometimes do seem to to have multiple threads on similar subjects - as I mentioned, the Riots and Big Brother being current examples.The Rule of Posting No. 15 clearly states, you will not

There may well be threads on similar topics, we do not allow the same topic posted by the same member posted in different forums. i.e Cross Posts.Hope that clarifies.
As Kinky says you can have the post in either forum, last count it looks like the TV forum is more popular with 148,751 posts where as Planes has 84,516 saying that quantity doesn't always equate to quality.

PH techies are currently in the process of setting a mods tool that will allow us to merge such thread.At present we tend to leave the one open that is in the most appropriate forum and with the most replies.
