I don't mean to appear all whingy but is there a policy on the whole "Is this a scam?" or "Scammers are getting inventive" posts? I know I could "just not read them" but, seriously, these things have been around for years. They're not new, inventive or interesting in the least. It's just spamming the boards with this crap. In a similar vein to to birthday threads, charity ones, "vote for my mate" ones there's nothing intrinsically wrong with them...they're just deeply annoying.

Yeah, then these same people get offended when you tell them that the scam has been around for 10 years now and everyone gets them and they're really not the first.You would think that at this stage everyone would be clued up on all these [blatantly obvious] scams.
I know of someone who was recently done over of £8.5k for an MX-5; with the oldest scam of all - the seller living abroad .... will ship it over, etc, etc.
Al and I have just been discussing this same subject (ironically enough). Although we do agree with you (and there is no 'policy' as such), it's still an important subject - especially if PHers are asking these same questions over and over.
Therefore it looks like we'll create a 'scams' thread - and that will be the 1 place for all these posts. Easy enough for you to avoid; and still good enough to spread the word

Getrag, I appreciate not everyone is an internet veteran but if you've navigated joining a forum then you're likely to be savvy enough to work out "Prince Nbongo" isn't likely to that interested in your car (though as Kinky points out, clearly it DOES happen). To be honest, the VAST majority of the "is this a scam" type posts aren't actual questions asking about the validity of an email from a potential customer, they're just "look at this doofus, isn't it funny?"...no, no it's not...it's just spam...and now it's spam on the boards...
