Sylvanian families at johnlewis.com???
Is this just a matter of coincidence, or is there some kind of 'spy' software used on PH that knows what i'm looking at on other sites of tinternet?
I have literally just closed the tab viewing these little Sylvanian freaks, refreshed PH, and on the homepage is an advert from johnlewis, showing me what i've just been looking at 30 seconds ago! Freaky or fecking what

Cookies ...... I used webuyanycar and got a quote for my BMW 320d several days later I used a car forum I think it was this one and the advert was advertising my cars current valuation through webuyanycar, hence I would assume there must be a cookie system in place whereby affiliates use these to tempt us with things they think we are interested in, like Latvian porn

I get stalked by John Lewis all over the internet, not just PistonHeads. They, like a lot of advertisers, use a system called "behavioural targeting." It uses an anonymised cookie based system to target you with ads as you travel around the internet based on the sites you look at. So basically John Lewis placed the cookie on your machine when you visited their site (and not PH) and then it used that cookie to target you when you came here.
Done well, it can be subtle and generate better response for advertisers, but John Lewis always seem to be a bit more brutal. I can never understand the logic of showing me ads that I've just been looking at, because I have either presumably bought the product, or decided not to. There's logic in there somewhere, but I don't get it either.
