While checking my phone bill recently I became aware of the over the top charges for using the PhoneSafe system on PistonHeads Classifieds. The phone calls are charged at nearly 70p per minute and nowhere on the ads are we informed of this price gouging. To be honest it is pretty outragous and I'd expect better from PistonHeads.
You should avoid any 070 or 074 phone numbers.

A bit of stealth revenue from PH here?

I thought that was what the government do scratchchin who we all seem to hate.

The price is probably mentioned on the info. Page that should come up when you click on the PhoneSafe logo - unfortunately, the script for that page is SNAFU..

Since the page it dead, I'll add the following:

Unless they have changed since I was at PH towers, the prices are between 12.5p and 37.5p per minute, depending on the time of day you call. The majority of the charge is added by your mobile phone company in exactly the same way as they do when you call "cheap rate" 0800/0845/0870 numbers (a supposedly free 0800 call from my mobile costs me 20ppm and doesn't come out of my allowance - thanks Vodafone!).

If you want to take it further though, it might be worth dropping adverts@pistonheads.com a quick email. The tech team who monitor this forum are probably a little busy this week so you'll likely get a faster response that way.

Hope this helps
