Front page "keep me logged in " problem

Hi all,
Since the new front page (& classifieds) were launched I've noticed some strangeness.
When I land on the front page, it displays "Log in" at the top, i.e. I am not logged in.
When I click on the "Forums" link, it does remember I am logged in and works as normal.
Go back to the front page, says I'm not logged in.
Even if I log in (from the front page link), same thing.
Me thinks your logged in cookies are a bit mixed up!

Possible related problem here.
For last few days (approx 4 days). On forums I get randomly logged out. Sometimes whilst actively surfing, sometimes when I come back to the PC I get logged out upon reload.
When I log back in I'm taken to my last post before it was submitted (ie the quote box ready to type my answer).
