Why are they now charging for all classifieds? Even the shed section isn't safe.

Because the adverts can't fund the bandwidth and server space this free forum that you have been a member of for nearly 4 years (yet rarely seem to bother posting on) requires, nor the wages of the staff required to maintain it and generate content for you to read on the occasions you visit.

Oh good another thread (by a low post count member) condemning the idea of a business charging for a service.... HOW VERY DARE THEY.

PH is owned by Haymarket, a commercial organisation and PH I believe is the largest forum in the UK so they have the traffic, why not charge where they can. If it is too much then demand and supply will kick in and punters will not advertise on PH.

That's got absolutely nothing to do with it.

On a serious note, I've spent £M's on car dealer ads over the last 30 years and I can tell you, even paying for an ad here for a niche car you couldn't find a better reach / response / conversion rate. PH is a phenomenon, probably even with the new classifieds.

The op should qualify for free ads even if he hardly frequents Ph due to his membership time.

I, on the other hand have been around for 5years albeit with a different profile and have geekily made thousands of posts and am still not legible for free ads.

Makes sense
