in these tough times is a guy not allowed to promote his business, while giving out advice
i'm sure many dealers set up accounts on here to plug a car thats gathering dust on their tarmac
Well, no. in these tough times is a guy not allowed to promote his business, while giving out advice

There are millions of dealers in the UK, and it's quite obvious why we don't allow them to come here to raise awareness of old stock. If we do that, the forums become a free advert and lose all sense of being a nice place to be. It hasn't been allowed for years, and if a dealer does self-promote we remove the thread and drop them a line asking them not to.
I must stress that I have no idea of the matter being raised by the OP however, although I suspect he has had a post removed? The link above suggests so. He's not banned, he has just been asked not to self-promote. No more than that.
It all falls in line with the rules, and this post: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Garlick not really the place for it don't wish to hijack someone's thread however the guidelines need tidying up or modding needs a more even hand.
It is often complained about on here that mods seem to have double standards to how they do things. I accept that there is not just one mod so what seems acceptable to one may not be to another causing issues where people feel there are double standards
I "threw a hissy fit" a few days ago apparently as a topic I started in news was deleted due to a link to a violent/disturbing video which I very clearly warned about in the first post.
It was explained to me that it was due to the disturbing/violent video which breached the guidelines ideals of the family website it was deleted. My issue was that it was related to another topic which had a similar violent video (china) which was happily allowed to stay by mods.
A point of note as well is that when I threatened to flag every single post that wasn't family friendly in line with what I was being told I was subtly warned I could/would get banned for doing so.

Just for the record Stuart Mills is not being banned it was never stated in any thread deletion mail that that would be the case.
He had a thread deleted that was deemed an advert, it's as simple as that.
I've also replied to another one of his threads today to assist him in his endeavors to advertise on the site.
