i just wondered if anyone was a member of the Greenwich Observatory etc........is it worth joining etc.

I'm a 36 year old total newbie but find the whole thing fascinating, and have moved very close to Greenwich etc

I also have been bought a big old telescope for Xmas, blah blah

as for what telescope I have.........i genuinely don't know.....it's in a box and i haven't had time to get it out.

I literally am 'all the gear no idea'

Story goes like this

I'm 36........when i was 21 I did a little bit of Geology alongside by academic qualification in Computer Science......

I've always had an interest but never any time.

Moved to near Greenwich - started thinking about it again.

Watched Wonders of the Universe (+ Solar System) on DVD

Girlfriend buys me a mahussive (to me) telescope for Xmas to encourage me.......

that's all I know thus far!

i guess I did ask 'where' to post Astronomy questions...........might have been slightly more helpful in the planes section though I guess........still.......thanks, at least i know where to go now

I took my daughter to the Planetarium at the Observatory last weekend - it was awesome and can thoroughly recommend it.
