Merging threads

Occasionally people start a thread in General Gassing or elsewhere when a new car comes out, such as I did this morning:

Then when PH have woken up and had their coffee, woken up the hamsters etc they run the story:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=23&...

It seems a shame to me to have both threads running.

Would it be possible to merge the two threads when this sort of thing happens?
