Youtube clips

Is there a technical reason we don't have the facility to embed youtube clips, or is it a policy decision?

I think the site has been designed to allow browsing at work without drawing attention, hence the low key colours and text etc. Embedded clips would upset that.

It would remove the oft ignored 'youtube clips must have titles' and prevent people clicking the same clip that has been given different titles by different people

Just for clarity not all youtube clips are req'd to be posted in the Lounge youtube clip thread, if for example it is a clip of something automotive it can be posted in any of the car forums, likewise with anything to do with boats, planes etc can be posted in that forum.

The whole point of the Lounge youtube thread is to stop members from posting odd non automotive/forum specific thread clips at random and to collect them in one official thread.

The main criteria to post in this official thread is that all clips must have a description, this was a direct request of the members who browse the thread at work as they wished to be able to gauge whether to open the clip or not.

Embedded videos annoy me as it's easier to click on them by accident. If they are described correctly what's the problem with a link?

Of course the real reason PH won't offer it any time soon is the custom forum software probably prevents it

I do find it a little perverse that a site that glories in the technical masterpiece that is the automobile, and the latest most up-to-date iterations thereof, should take pride in looking like something knocked up in a student bedsit 15 years ago.
