Commenting on News Items

Why is it that there seems to be a delay between a news item appearing and a succssful comment thread starting on it?

By this I mean that often it seems that there's a gap between the news item appearing and the functionality for the commenting working properly - a current example is the "Caterham's new car" article. The first chap to comment on the article got a thread with none of the article at the top. I almost did the same, but cancelled it and now another PHer has created another comments thread on it, this time the functionality has worked and the article has appeared at the top of that thread. These actions weren't performed all at the same time - I saw the original thread (without the article), went to find the article, read it and then tried to comment, so it isn't a case of multiple requests at the same time.

Why is it possible for the "Comment on this article" link not to work properly?

I think it occurs when people click to add comments and all have the new topic window open at the same time. The first person to have clicked it has the article attached.

I believe you also have to enter the thread title yourself (copied from the story).
