Threads that degenerate into personal slanging matches
Discussion
I've taken to only reading the first couple of pages of the longer threads on here. That's because I can pretty much guarantee that by page 3, someone will have upset someone else and the remaining pages will primarily be just the two of them (and a couple of stirrers) having a go at each other. Can't you just take it outside?
NB: Did you call my pint a poof?
NB: Did you call my pint a poof?
Happens all the time and usually could have been avoided if one or the other didn't go and spectacularly miss the point in the first place. Then to save face there will be pages and pages of anything to back up or worm out of the original disagreement OR a continuation of missing the point!
One to watch is slanging matches or opinions spilling over from other forums.
I've done it myself here and 100% stand by that opinion.
I've often found that some people wander the internet world of driving based forums banging a [insert topic here] drum and when found out and eventually shot down skulk off somewhere else with said drum.

If you're going to have a half-arsed rant, at least get the little things correct.

I'd be quite happy with more aggressive moderation of posters that resort to insults.
If you resort to calling someone names because you don't agree with them, you've really no right to be heard.
Especially when someone resorts to bullying to try to win their pointIf you resort to calling someone names because you don't agree with them, you've really no right to be heard.

The moderators do keep an eye on things. If you have a problem, click report on the top right of the post and the moderators will be alerted and decide if anything needs to be done about it.If you resort to calling someone names because you don't agree with them, you've really no right to be heard.

Indeed. I faced a thread ban for using rather colourful nouns, and probably a few adjectives, to describe someone who wasn't even on the forum (just some finger-waving F1 champion).-Matt
Rules is rules though.
