Invisible pound sign

Is this something my end, or yours? whenever I post a pound sign it shows on the preview, but not when I've posted it.

Those little ascii characters don't show up either.
You know if you hold down the alt key and type on the number pad?
alt 171 for instance is a half sign, etc.
I'll do some now:

See, now they show up when you're composing the message but not after you've posted it.

I can be as equally fascinating on any number of other topics if you want me to.

My pound signs have also gone. Acute accents don't seem to work very well either.
