Hey Switch, and other techy types,

Is there anything on the roadmap for checking for duplicate content? Mobile browsers (and the quotes in the topic title include tablets as they seem to follow the same behaviour as phones) seem not to check for duplicate POST submissions.

So if you hit back in the browser on a phone or tablet, you end up posting twice, even if you're using the full site (certainly on Android anyway, can't speak for iOS). At least with the full site you have the ability to delete the duplicate, but it's still a pain in the arse. And if you're on your phone using the mobile site, even that option is denied to you, leading to the swathe of :"double post, sorry" edited posts about the place.

Cheers
G

Just a smug Lumia user here to say I don't experience the problem on my mobile device.

Currently no plans to prevent double posts.

It's something we can manage with as it is and putting a check in place would only serve to slow down the forum, especially in peak hours.

Just fill out the required forms, in duplicate.

Rhythm is a dancer.

No, not really, I'll be magnanimous and forego my membership fee. Treat a hamster.

OP, of you know what is causing it, (hitting the back button), then don't hit the back button after submitting. wink

A hard habit to break. Particularly on an Android device where the "Back" key is used across the entire device, not just within the browser (I don't have a PC at home at the moment, just the Prime)

Besides, it may be, as happened the other day when I duplicated this actual thread (doh), that I pick up the tablet on getting home and go back without remembering that within the pages I'm going back through, there's a submission.

I'm not sure why Android and iOS behave that way to be honest - desktop browsers have it licked.
