A book forum?

There are loads of book threads getting lost in The Lounge, any chance of a little forum for books?

A book forum has been suggested before, & declined.
Though I'd quite like to see an extra wing added to PH, we have a lounge, kitchen, garage, maybe a library should be built

I suggested a culture forum ages ago.
By culture, I meant art and stuff...theatre...
For once I wasn't euphemistically meaning bongo mags and strip clubs.
It was under consideration but nothing more was heard.

I think there is just about enough interest for a literature/book forum too! Plus the fact it is easy to create your own list of favourite fora under Preferences it wont add any clutter to the already extensive list of forums.

The Reading Room perhaps. The only issue being the potential for confusion over print media and online.

I think Kinky was on the money with The Library, it does what it says and would slot in nicely alongside The Lounge.

Hmmm . . . would reside too close to The Lounge for my liking - it can get a bit too noisy in there at times.

I think a wider cultural brief for the sub-forum would be necessary for it to maintain momentum: arts, theatre, classical music/opera etc as well as books and maagazines.

I'm not convinced of that. There is a music forum, I don't think the classical audience on PH is big enough to warrant a separate forum, even despite us all being highly cultured. <<Insert company director cliche here>>

I agree with V8mate - an Arts-Culture & Literature type forum might be of generally more interesting read than just books on its own. The Music forum could presumably stay as-is?

And that's my point. Books alone is not a sufficient topic to warrant its own forum. A wider cultural scope could give it some legs.

We'll have to agree to disagree then, I think the printed word is strong enough to stand up on its own without having ballet and trumpets lumped in alongside.
