Windows XP SP2 Popup Blocker Problems???
Discussion
Ted,
I haven't investigated this thoroughly yet, but I've been using my home office/test PC tonight rather than the laptop - it's running WinXP SP2, and I seem to be having a usability problem.
Best described as...sporadically (but most of the time) when I browse back to PH (typically using a 'whatsnew.asp' link), the page refreshes itself 3/4/5 times before I can use it...I guess it would normally be loading a pop-up at this point,
Have you got SP2 and the facilities to test? I can pop over with it on a CD if you want (I'm an MSDN subscriber)...
If the problem is SP2 then it will be a major ballache for your less committed customers...
Cheers
Paul

I was thinking about that yesterday. I was wondering if MS would have the sense to include an "allow pop-ups" override for known sites.
Don't tell me that they haven't!?
I have Mozilla and Netscape as options, but as an "average user" I think that is slightly abnormal. Most will just use what MS offers

They have included that... I'm running SP2 in the office and you can specify which site you wish to allow poppups to appear on .

Ah, I didn't think they could be that daft...
I suspect my SP2 pack will download today (I'm sure it's today that it's going out for general users anyway)

Edited to add:
Just in case anyone's interested, it appears as though SP2 conflicts with quite a few of MS' own programs - which is bright!

I have got the same problem now that XP SP2 is installed. Pages goes mad when I go to Pistonheads, with the pop ups constantly trying to load themselves. I can handle the PH pop ups, and understand the reasons for them but it seems anyone with SP2 is going to have trouble using PH from now on.
This might help

Ted, if you have any tech questions or need support around making PH "SP2 compatible" drop me a mail and I might be able to help.
