Why do some links automatically log me off?

Say I go into the Kate middelton thread which has been closed and click the link to the open on the last post, I will now be logged off and need to log back into PH again.

Why does this happen and can anything be done to stop it?

By any chance are you switching domains?

If you're logged into pistonheads.com and follow a link to pistonheads.co.uk you're under a different domain for which your login cookie is not valid.

So no it wouldnt be across domains unless the missing www is causing it.

It's the same issue, though slightly different.

The link was to pistonheads.com and you're logged on to www.pistonheads.com

Matt, why can't it be set up so people who visit .co.uk get redirected to .com? It's pretty simple, surely, is there a reason why it hasn't been done or can't be done?

The problem as described is a new one; it's been happening to me on Firefox 15 on two PCs at home since about Tuesday. "Domain changes" weren't a problem for me until this week, when the two PCs went from Firefox 14 to 15. A third PC here sees infrequent use and still has Firefox 13; it logged on here automatically after a 2 week layup, which the other two have often struggled to do this week (and that's just to log on initially, never mind "domain changes").

Maybe it's the latest version of Firefox, or maybe not??? But it's a mild inconvenience.
