This could fall flat on its face, but here me out. Would a car modifying section on the forum be a good or bad idea? What I think could be really useful is to help fellow PHer's who may be looking for sound and professional advice on car modifying. I appreciate that individual forum manufacturer areas such as Subaru, TVR, Bentley etc, can help those who own those specific cars, but what about more general or specific advice?

Over to you....

There are plenty if other forums that cater for this. Let them stay there.

PH would implode with arguments by the minute if it was here.

Don't see why it is seen as an improper suggestion as there is loads about modifications, just it seems to be looked down upon if it is a young lad doing stuff to what he can afford, if it is someone spending several grand on a Capristo exhaust there will be several pages of nice comments.

I think PH is complicated enough as it is though.

It would only work if it only covered
a) Expensive exhausts fitted to cars with more than 6 cylinders
b) Nothing done to anything that was a hatch
c) fitted the narrow criteria of what a bunch of middle aged engineers though acceptable.

Therefore it won't happen.

'Modifying' conjures up the wrong image.

'Tuning' - Much better. Everyone likes a tuned car. smile

Later aftermarket wheels. Tasteless chrome tat on the body.

Barry spec for sure.

WHilst you make an interesting point, surely you can see that there is a strong likelihood that that is not the quality of car that threads will be about. If it was, it would get my vote.

If modified cars are going to make it on to the front page then I don't see why there shouldn't be a forum to discuss them.
