Why did that get banned? Yeah there'll be a bit of fanboyism in it but a blooming interesting discussion, as the OP said the points difference between the two is tiny for all their differing style & accomplishments.

If a forum is based on discussion between members, where does stopping this discussion leave the forum?

I'm not surprised it was binned. Every time that subject arises, it descends into pages of trolling and nonsense. I can't remember the last thread about it which didn't and it's usually the same people involved who don't seem to be able to leave it alone.

It's a race to the bottom in terms of thread quality for topics like this.

Fanboys of Hamilton are unmovable.
Fanboys of Button are unmovable.

A couple of reasonable, balanced posts from those of us that think they are both great, but quite different drivers will be lost in a mire of increasingly antagonistic and vitriolic posts....

I agree, seems a decent thread and discussion......don't know why it would be closed?

The topic seems to get covered in every single Grand Prix thread already.

Every F1 thread is characterised by a poster always having more knowledge and being a bigger fan than the previous poster. Before you know it, every participant disappears up their own arse and the thread turns to st.

Every. Single. Time.

That particular discussion has been played out a hundred times.

I would have been reading it for longer, and would have had more posts, but Keyser Soze took my bandwidth in the last session.

Yeah, well, I would have had more posts but for reliability issues. I'd definitely have taken three "poster of the year" awards by now.

Yeah, right, but if you look at the posting frequency and the gap between posts, combined with another stat that I'm about to invent, you'll see that I'm actually the better poster.

Whatever, closing a thread should be a LAST RESORT. Are you listening, mods?

It's like the Minority Report. We think this thread will descend into a flame war, so we're closing it now children, before you even start.

Far too much of this lately; it's an insult to PH'ers.

But frankly, we'll end up with 30 threads in motorsport covering:

Hamilton vs Button
Schumacher vs Senna
Schumacher vs Rosberg
etc

If you want those, and want to see the quality of the debate, go to Autosport forum, it's full of them.

16.36 for this year but that was with a broken browser in May and a downgraded connection in June.

.3621 better than yours, if we take into account the rain during your posting.

Ah no but I did PPPx which is the more realistic stat to take into account how my postings would have made me poster of the year, not PPP which doesn't take into account server loading or rain.

My PPP would be 37.65 so much better than your puny 37.5.

Don't suppose there's any chance of getting this back on topic is there?

Would be great if we could.
