What does the blue bar that runs horizontally across some posts saying last visit mean?

At first I thought it meant that was the final post the last time I'd read the thread. Then realised it wasn't that

Then thought it meant it was the original posters last post but realised it was that either

So what does it mean?

No, that is what I was referring to in the first part of the post but it is on threads I've never read before

AFAIK this is actually its intended purpose

As you may have noticed it doesn't work hugely well, it does sometimes get it right so it's not at Search Fucntion levels of borkdom
