Change site backgrounds etc

Hopefully I'm not being too much of an eedjit here but there is no way of changing to a darker background is there? I have messed with the skins but all have the white background.

(Not being too much of a a whiney tart but since getting a bout of Optic Neuritis, white backgrounds tend to glare and 'overpower' a bit )

Long Answer: Yes, But you'd have to apply a custom CSS skin to the site via your browser (so yes if you're a geek)

If you are using firefox there is an addon which will allow you to switch the background to a dark colour
