Thanks

I dont think there isn't a specific mod for the photo forum. Which thread was it in particular?

OK. So who has been given the rights/access to edit others posts on that particular forum?

You telling me you don't know?

Come off it.

What you want me to list every mod on the site? The only people that can edit other people's posts are the mods, without knowing what thread you are talking about its difficult to help

It could be any of us so we'll need the thread to have a look. I will say that there's only one thread in your history that's obviously in that forum and two replies have been deleted from it, but it looks like it was you who did it...

Guessing its this one then?

As Bill said, the only posts of yours that have been deleted show that you deleted them yourself

If you have a reply that has been deleted, you get an email telling you and can follow up for more.

If you have a reply that has been edited, it will tell you who edited it in your original message

Look see on the message, same happens if a mod does it.

Strictly speaking that's not true.
Some of the more senior mods can make changes without leaving a "mark" at the end. However we normally leave a note of some sort to say what's been done, if not by who.

However if you link us to the thread with the edits we can see who did what.

That's true in as much that if we edit a post that will in the main have a note with a comment regarding removal, however if that post has been quoted a number of times we only edit the post, but not leave the comment.

Mods,

The deletion that was carried out, repeated 3 times with no notice or explanation, was of an image I had used as illustration of an astrophotography site from Jerry Lodriguss, twice a full image and once a thumbnail; I thought that the image may have been to big or something.

Links/

http://www.astropix.com/ & from his old FILM gallery @ http://www.astropix.com/HTML/SHOWCASE/SHOWCASE.HTM along with his info on the shot.

OK.

I am a film old guy and digital newb. I was hoping to spark interest in the astro-photgraphic field for the benefit of all.

In my entry I had also pointed out that there were commercial links to his BOOKS, but as we are [supposed] to be big boys it would be advantageous to have this as a reference to the openly available knowlledge of someone who is the undisputed master of DSLR astro-photography via his website, to encourage and improve the efforts of the photographers [and mine] on that particular forum.

I decided to remove ALL my entries to that particular PH clique, as in effect, it turns out it's nothing more than a closed shop. Really if people feel that, overall, they don't need advice [and boy do they] then I ain't going to waste what available free time I have.

Back to the original observation, I'm amazed that this kind of anonymous manipulation can go on, unrecorded and uncontrolled.

And back to the question that has now been asked by 4 mods, do you have a link to the thread that you posted these images on?
I assume that it isn't the one that I posted the link to?

You still haven't given us a link to the thread concerned. Without that we can do nothing..

While that downloads do you have a date oif roughly when these edits/deletions occurred? That's a 200+ page thread and we can only see so much behind the scenes, when it finishes downloading we can tell you which page and date is our cut off, if your edit is beyond that only Switch or Racing Pete will be able to help you.

Edit, my cut-off is 02/08/2012 @ 12.59pm which is 2/3rds the way down page 45.

I'll take a look tomorrow.

According to this. You deleted your replies.

Your member id is listed as the editor and in this case, deleter.

Yes you are, in-part, correct.

The part you are, I have to say, rather obviously ignoring, are the actions carried out beforehand.

If you are saying that you cannot find who ORIGINALLY edited my posts I will, obviously, have to take that at face value.

Ever considered the web site you linked to are actually blocking the deep linking of their content. when i first viewed this topic your post didn't show the picture you linked to, just a red x, yet the image is on the linked web site with the exact URL, and now i have viewed it on the host web page a refresh here brings it up, likely you had a cached copy when you posted and once that expired the red x appeared and you thought a mod had deleted your pic when actually no one had been near it.

ps i am not a mod or affiliated to PH

OK guys I stand corrected. I previewed the post and it was "all" there, if I have unwittingly dropped one, my apologies.
