IE is going mental trying to open "www.tags.admeld.com/..." and it keeps freezing the browser meaning I have to close it with the Task Manager.

Before all the advice to use Firefox and adblocker this is a work machine.

It happens with me aswell, but it doesn't freeze IE. I'm using IE9.

So it is trying to open the admeld tags in a window, or the screen is not loading because it can't get past the admeld. url?

It comes up as a pop up, saying the site is trying to open admeld tags in a new window. I always click cancel, as I have no idea what admeld tags are. I also get it on facebook, so I didn't think to mention it until I saw this thread.

Admeld is a piece of ad serving technology, now owned by Google. Nothing sinister about it at all - it has capability for contextual targeting (serving ads according to what content you've been looking at) as most of this tech does. It is one of the bigger platforms though, so I'm a little surprised that it is reacting like this with IE9 (or vice versa).

I'll raise it with the ad serving team just to make sure that there isn't anything in the configuration that we can do about it, although it is interesting that youre having the same problem with Facebook.

Leave it with me.

Hi Stuart, thanks for your response. I was using quite an old IE, sorry not sure exactly which, on a work computer with with very conservative browser settings so I suppose that could cause a problem if it keeps trying to open an ad while the browser tries to block it.
