What is it with this tag.admeld.com?
Discussion
I use Firefox 18.0.2 and haven't noticed the reported problem on here - but I tried getting on to the 'travel news' page of my online local rag this evening and noticed that it hung on "waiting for: tag.admeld.com" then crashed Firefox (it usually grinds to a halt on the 'news' front page of that site anyway, then usually splutters slowly ahead again in eighteenth gear after a minute or so and stays at the point of stalling for several minutes - but I've not noticed any "waiting for: ... " messages while it has been auto-asphyxiating until today).
So it's not just IE affected
?
"Admeld" is something to do with 'targetted advertising' apparently

- and crashes the (expletive deleted) browser
?!?!! Talk about a parasite killing its host!
This thread is 6th or 7th in the google search for tag.admeld.com, btw

Both 7 & 8 depending on which machine I use.
As for thread it doesn't matter, it keeps trying to upload so unless I press the big red X up the top of the bar it'll crash if I move away from that page.
And 9, if it starts happening then you can prevent it by pressing "Stop" once the main text on each page loads, but it's pretty irritating. As for thread it doesn't matter, it keeps trying to upload so unless I press the big red X up the top of the bar it'll crash if I move away from that page.
I think it must be one of the ads that loads halfway down each forum page.
I've never encountered this problem, but then I avoid using IE. For those who have no choice, this might help:
Go to Tools menu -> Internet Options -> Content tab -> Content Advisor/Settings -> Approved Sites

Type in
You might also need to go to the General tab ( Content Advisor Settings -> General ) and check 'Users can see websites that have no rating'.
Not sure how necessary that last part is.
Should fix it. I think. Hopefully.
FAO Admin : quick (unrelated) bug report in passing. Apparently I can't use more than one instance of the {{{ Code }}} formatting tag per post. Subsequent instances are replaced with a [NOWIKI] string. Not exactly high priority, but still...
