A quick question for the PH bods who train the website hamsters.

Is there any chance of getting a 'PM received' message/icon? For example; a small message icon that appears next to your username on the top right that shows you have had a PM.

I only ask as I have about 4 email addresses and the one linked to my PH account is rarely used. As such, if I receive a PM it tends to get lost underneath that waves of spam I receive by the time I actually log into it.

I know this is my own fault for being disorganised, but I found during the 'PH Secret Santa' thread that I spent a lot of time getting PMs that I didn't know about. It would only need to be for the inital PM sent through PH, after that it obviously goes through emails.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be or if anybody else thinks it might be a handy little feature?

Just an idea anyway, tell me to ps off if it's too much hard work smile

I'd have thought it would be nigh on impossible*, given that PM's don't sit anywhere within the PH systems, but rather on your email providers systems. The KISS advice would be to know which email address your PMs go to, and check that regularly.

  • I am not a PH code monkey, though, so they may be able to do something clever with the PM webpage code.

The inital message does go through PH though, doesn't it? Hence the sender cannot get your email address unless your reply back to it through your email.

It was just an idea anyway smile

Yes, but how would PH know when to clear the icon ? It can't know when you've read your email.

Alternative - change your PH email address to one that you actually use and that has a proper spam filter.

Sorry but are PM's received on PH somewhere, or in your usual email inbox?

Change the address you have PH PMs sent to, to one you do check regularly?
