Checked my emails and the message says that my response was removed because:

"Necrobumping is a childish sport"

Now to be honest i didn't know what 'Necrobumping' meant so i went and checked the word out and apparently it means "To revive a long dormant forum thread by adding a new post, thus bringing it to the top of the forum list. Often a tactic of trolls".

Sorry to make such a big deal of such a small matter but this thread has been bumped many times since it 'ended'. The thread finished receiving responses on the 14/07/10 and it was bumped on the following dates:

24/08/10
16/11/10
21/12/10
08/03/11
02/07/11
08/08/11
09/01/12

These people did not have there responses removed so i can only conclude it must be something personal that the mods have against me... frown

Many thanks, RobTVR.

Nothing personal, just unnecessary wastage of bandwidth. Move on.

I'm no expert with the technical aspects of running a website but can't you remove the really old threads which nobody reads to improve their bandwidth or something? It would make more sense than removing random posts that some people might actually like to see surely?

Anyway i'm sorry to have started two unnecessary threads, it's not as if this is anything important and i'm not too bothered about it either now. smile

Delete the threads i made today and save some bandwidth... wink

I think the bandwidth comment as slightly tongue in cheek - I think the mods see little value in lots of threads, however funny. being reopened after months/years when nothing has changed. Less about bandwidth per se, more about avoiding The Lounge being cluttered with 10 years of "hilarious" bumped threads.

Yes i see what you are saying, however some people don't actually get to see the funny threads first time round which is why the get bumped, to give people a second chance to read it and have a laugh. I'm sure the mods often get bored of seeing the same threads popping up all the time but most of us don't mind if it's something amusing, such as the Login and Ambiwlans ones which have survived long enough in my opinion.

Why don't the mods just close the thread if they do not wish people to post on it any more, isn't that the best option in this case?
