Sick of the smoking adverts

Don't smoke, never have, never will, but can't stand going into every thread to be confronted by tumour photos. If any other adverts were deliberately nauseating they wouldn't be allowed but presumably because it's the government for 'the greater good' it's acceptable.

I'm sure PH and other sites would not allow a tumor in other adverts featured.
Why should government fueled propaganda be any different?

I don't smoke. I'm just fed up of pretending it's acceptable as it's NHS.

This of course isnt in the PH spirit though as if it wasn't for the adverts we would have to pay to use the site.

I visited Feedback to say the same thing. I don't smoke, (ex-smoker), and those tumour ads are stomach-churning. I'll give it a few days to see if it gets replaced, but if not I'll start running an ad blocker.

Don't have a problem with it. If we are going to expect the Govt to deal with all of the fall out then its only right they try and show people the downsides

As for whether PH should be blocking them - wouldn't have a problem with it as they are quite grim and prob not necessary on here.

I have to say it does seem to be getting a disproportionate amount of coverage. I'll be going down the ad-blocker route too soon.

That's a very poor excuse. They could be in complete control of their ads but they have chosen to outsource to a company who seem to be doing their utmost to make this site as unpleasant to use as humanly possible, what with automatic musical ads, the admeld tag crashing the site all the time etc.

PH can request that any Ad isn't shown - for example if Autotrader started running one about how many more classified ads they had compared to PH.

I don't smoke at the moment and I am perfectly aware of the risks if I did. I come here for a relaxed browse, to post rubbish cars under £1,000 in the bargain thread, and to moan about how left wing the Tories are, not to see nasty pictures.

Plus as I mentioned on another thread, these Govt ads are not free, I don't know how much it costs but, as they keep telling us, there is no money.

The Mrs' pharmacy has doled out all the quit kits they can get their hands on, have sent repeated orders for more. Nothing available.

Waste of our taxes, as usual.
