PH - Family Oriented Forum?

Because if you're taking down links (i.e. not the pics or vids themselves) to things that are merely "upsetting", then surely it's inconsistent to not deal with the cavalcade of deeply-inappropriate-for-children content which characterises The Lounge?
Or is PH actually not a "family orientated forum" at all?

Sorry but no. Whilst The Lounge does, on occasion, host topics of a slightly odd nature, the oddness is generally humerous. Posting links to a website that films ANY living being skinned alive etc etc is not really on is it?
If I wish to experience the brutality that we, Homo sapiens are capable of, in search of our 'luxury' and 'pleasure' then there are far more appropriate sites than this one.

Just not the place for it here. Discuss it, comment, start a campaign. For sure. PH is a family site and unless it needs spelling out again, a site that is not banned from most workplaces. So, take it on the chin and when you're bored at work and want a wander, thank that PH isn't banned as a 'chat' website.

I reckon PH should think long and hard before claiming to be a family-orientated or family-friendly site.

These sorts of topics can be read in magazines and newspapers - not specialist ones - available from the local papershop, convenience store or supermarket. OK, it's a discussion forum with input from many, not just an article written by a few, which is a significant difference...
"Specialist" stuff - aside from the internet-available option - is harder to get hold of; its access is controlled to a fair degree.
Anything can be found on the internet, as long as websites will host it. They can be linked from this site, and some is specifically NOT "family-friendly".
While I enjoy reading about serial killers and their, errm, exploits, I'd have to take certain steps to get hold of a DVD or video of a murder happening - it's not "family-friendly" by any stretch of the imagination, that sort of stuff, rather it is likely to give level headed adults a fit of the heebie-jeebies and kids would be very traumatised by it indeed. Or I could visit any number of video-hosting sites (and there are specialist ones in this field) and watch the stuff no questions asked - and link to it from here - and it's gruesome, horrific stuff.
While the internet is great, it has its drawbacks - where videos and pictures are concerned - that the written word (even about stuff linked to in the OP) avoids just as magazines and papers do (with the rider that the internet articles are written by the readers and not an editor
). A picture paints a thousand words, and all that - and an explicit/detailed picture or video spells it out in a way that words usually never will.
As the man said, this site is generally allowed through workplace ICT filters and firewalls . And that's not an easy feat for a large discussion forum
