Classified years - how does it work?

For some cars, you'll want to be specific about a year, maybe to ensure you only look at facelifts. Obviously plates can span 2 years as well, a 51 plate could be 2001 or 2002.

So, how does the year filter work? Is it done on the cars registered date, or on the plate year?

We resolve a car's year based on its first registered date. Yes, this can cause a few anomalies, but it works for the majority of used cars.
