Hi guys, ive been on this site for years and sold many cars, now its asking me for 9.99 not only that but the 9.99 has to be paid again after 30 days?

Is this right, do i now need to find another car site/forum to frequent?

It's been sometime since the free "standard" ads for cars were discontinued.If you joined before Jan 2009 & give your details then the techies will probably be able to allow you to post free ads in future

This is correct. Free ads are only for members that have joined before January 1, 2009; you've only been a member as of today.

£9.99 is inexpensive compared to the alternatives.

well i only signed up for the forums like a week ago because ive never had a problem with the adds section before. I've been on here since i sold my first car at 19, so this is definitely earlier than 2009.

Also, if i wasnt a long standing member i wouldn't have known to come on and complain about it! lol.

The forum account / classified accounts dont seem to link together :/

@Matt what details do you need to prove my account previously existed, i even remember the registration plates of the cars ive sold on here.

because my username now has a "2" at the end it makes me think i did used to have just "smc87", but it would have been linked to the same email address. whenever i try to reset a password for this email address though it only sends me this account.

Sorry, but you have to have a forum account registered before January 1st, 2009 to have free ads. Thems the rules.

There is someone registered as smc87, but the e-mail accounts don't match up. If they did, I could verify you're the same person.

If he no longer has access to the previous email address that may prove difficult, if not impossible.
If he supplies the address via PM that should be enough to verify his longevity surely? It's not like it's easy to 'guess' a registered email address.
I can understand google or microsoft getting pedantic but surely PH doesn't need to be so unyielding?

I also have this problem my original e mail provider (uk online) stopped unexpectedly (Rupert Friggin Murdoch) to blame so i contacted PH to explain the problem and password resets sent to that address were sent off to the ether somewhere.
The admin were good and sorted it yet i seem to be asked for folding now i am advertising one of the fleet (Barge)
Original e mail address was [e-mail] Username Frenchy

Now [e-mail] user name jimfrance

Can you please advise admin and what do i have to do to retreive my old username Frenchy and get the barge on PH FOC ;-)

Hello, this is an interesting post a I am having the exact same problem, does anyone know who can help me please? I've been a member for years and in recent times have placed ads at nil cost with the web site telling me that because I've been a member for years I don't attract a fee. Suddenly this benefit has been withdrawn and twice I have had to re verify my identity.. I've been making occasional posts for years and buying and selling here for years... how do I ger back to business as usual please?

Looks like you've registered a 2nd account tonight despite having an existing account with free ad rights.

Use your forum name as your username in the classifieds and you'll be on the right account.

Brilliant, thank you Matt. I think I know what happened. I was having trouble amending info in the autofilled boxes, every time I hit backspace to delete text it threw me out of the ad I was writing and hitting it more than once took me back a number of pages so I think by the time I learned my lesson I got back to a point where I was not logged in and didn't realise it... this will be why I had to keep verifying my information.
