What the hell, since when did PH enjoy pushing this stuff? Do I need to be worried about what my kids are using my iPad for or is there some other reason why the damn banner with 1000's of Asian women looking to meet me keeps popping up? How do I stop this

Not sure specifically about PH ads, but websites now use Tracking Cookies - so if you carry out searches on Google, Amazon, etc for "Thai Ladyboys" then you will start to see adverts on other websites that you visit for them. Gmail even scans keywords from the emails that you receive to display "More appropriate" adverts for you.

Of course, if you use Google Chrome and download Adblocker Plus and Ghostery then you'll never see any of this.

I'd agree when I'm at home but I use my laptop in an open plan office and the wrong person looking over my shoulder at the wrong time could be very embarrassing if there's an advert for Thai brides on my screen.

Lucky I haven't been reading any PH threads about really embarrassing things like; Viagra, transgender issues or Glasgow Rangers.

As I said on the other thread, I get the same ads even in "private browsing" mode, signed out of PH.

I'm probably getting the "Browse 1000 Single Asian Women's Profiles" ads on 75% of PH pageviews.

I agree and understand about the search history cookies, but that is clearly not the *only* mechanism at work here, e.g. I am also getting adverts for Shell petrol and some rubbish 4x4s, none of which I have searched for/looked at. These are clearly reasonable ads to target at a site like PH, but it also shows that there are more factors to consider.

I have to say I have tried to put up with the adverts here so far, but this is going to force me to use an adblocker.

Edited to add, they aren't ads for 4x4s but a little Suzuki and a Honda CR-V.

I'm getting these all over PH even after tracking cookies have been removed. I realise it's not PH directly, but they don't do the site any favours.
