Guys, what is this crud ? Please get rid of it.

When i hit the homepage on my ipad i go to the bottom and carefully select to see the full classic website. But then i go into classifieds and i get this terrible interface which is painfully slow, too big for an ipad screen and just a complete nightmare to use. I then have to edit the url and change true to 'false' to see what i expect to see.

I dont want to see a counter of available cars update in realtime as i change my selection criteria a la Autotrader website. Why on earth would i want to see this ? The fact that there are 15,287 BMW's for sale in the country but only 58 M5's is honestly of absolutely no concern to me whatsoever. I am not a habitual car-spotter, I don't go round teh country making notes on every BMW I see and I don't keep a journal of how many cars BMW have produced and how many have been imported into the UK. I am just a regular bloke who generally hates computers and wants to find a used car with the minimum amount of stress and expenditure of energy. A real time counter of my selection criteria doesn't impress me and I do not sit there staring at it, pontificating upon the technology and brilliance of the mathematics behind such a feature.

In the same vein, I also do not want to scroll indefinitely just to select "porsche" from a seemingly endless drop down box. It takes me around 10 swipes of my finger just to get down to the P's. Why would that make it a good interface, 10 whole swipes just to select the correct manufactuer. After that, it usually hangs and then I select the car type and then it will probably hang again.

This interface is hopeless guys and im stunned why or how anyone would think its any good. Remember that what gives a coder a hard-on may well be over complex, clunky and slow to an end user who dgaf about how clever a website is but just wants to look through a set of used cars as quickly and easily as possible. Please beta test this stuff on real people who don't have a clue about computers.

If i select the classic/full website, please give me the classic classifieds .. can we drop the isexperiment=true malarky ?

Can someone at PH Towers please get in touch with Autotrader and ask if you can use their classifieds format from three years ago before all this show-off Web 2.0 bks ruined everything?

What jackal said. One of the worst pieces of web user design I have ever seen. And the old PH classfieds (you know guys - the one that served you so well while the audience grew from fsck all to where it is now) - was so beautifully simple and easy to use.

Already a thread running: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Also, for your particular scenario you can still use the classifieds like you used to. Ignore the search box and just scroll down to Porsche. Even quicker, scroll down to the row with A-Z and click on P. I reckon you could do it in two scrolls of an iPad.
