Is there a quick way of going back say 30 pages on a forum without going going through
every one.

If you click on the number of the page you are currently on in a thread it becomes a text box and you can type the number of the page you want to go to.

I think OP was asking how to jump pages of posts rather than pages in a post

In which case:

Go to the first page of the forum in question
Click next to get to page 2
In the address you'll see &i=, this number indicates which thread is at the top of the page, so if you have 20 threads per page change it to 580 to get to page 30 (for example)

Not sure if there's a 'proper' way, but that seems to work
