The Youtube thread
Discussion
Isn't it about time this was stopped? I never go in there, and prefer a specific post describing the contents.
If not you may as well start a "News" thread and all news goes in there, surely?!
Better still, how about a Youtube section where people are free to start individual threads about vids. Just closing threads that contain a new vid us somewhat childish me thinks.

Not childish I don't think. As far as I understand it's blanket policy which stems from the no advertising rule.
Most YT clips have an advert attached but also, the poster might also just be promoting his / her YT channel.
I don't personally agree with their approach but I understand and accept it.

The Official Youtube thread was set up at the request of many members, it was because members were just got fed up with threads appearing with just a link to youtube clips. If not you may as well start a "News" thread and all news goes in there, surely?!

The Lounge and GG were just awash with such threads and it was deemed that in the main ALL Youtubes clips would be linked and closed to the official threads per members request, there is no plans to change the current policy.
As far as revenue generation is concerned, don't push your luck and you may get away with the odd post here and there, make a habit of posting your own Youtube links and you will get a slap eventually!

We are not that concerned with what's on the clip or what adverts accompany it as long as they are not littering the forums.
It's called keeping the forums uncluttered.
I thought you'd indicated otherwise - here. It's called keeping the forums uncluttered.
Maybe I misunderstood.

I wasn't a fan of the loads of Youtube threads appearing in General Gassing, as the OP didn't always post anything other than a Youtube thread, with a vague title.
