Appreciate this isn't going to be top priority however just wanted to share a frustration with the PH Classifieds atm.

I'm looking at a few different cars and as such have a few searches saved/subscribed. Since subscribing to the searches yesterday afternoon (how I missed this feature until then I don't know!) I've had 4 emails (Yesterday at 18:08 & 19:08 and then today at 11:10 & 12:08 ) telling me there are new results. On looking there are no new results at all but there's always a certain traders car appearing up top (despite being for sale for months)

Is this literally being caused by the trader deleting his ad and then re-submitting it to make it appear as a new advert? Somewhat defeats the point of notifications when I'm getting spammed with emails when there's nothing new to look at. Makes a complete mockery of the saved search/notifications and means I'll probably be turning the feature back off again (at least for the search which is generating these emails).

Cheers,
Alex

We will have a look at this specific issue - can you post the ad or PM me for the ad that keeps getting renewed.

The system works by spotting if an advert has been submitted that matches your search more recently than the last email you got, and this is run on an hourly schedule. This should be a useful feature (and hence why we added it), so if it isn't working to provide that usefulness to you we will work to make sure it does.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. The advert I think is triggering the emails is this one; http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

Appreciate it's not the biggest issue in the world but a niggle non the less smile

Thanks,
Alex

They are republishing that advert every day, and hence hitting the mail again trigger.

We need to relook at the rules around this so that it doesn't keep sending for any dealer who is doing this - I will add it to the dev backlog to modify, so won't happen immediately but should be a fix this month.

No worries did think that might be the case as their adverts have a habit of always being at the top. Just annoying in a slow moving category I guess.

Would be appreciated to see what's doable with it though.

Thanks,

Also happens to me with my VXR8 search. This is the offending advert:

That seller isn't as prolific at renewing as the previous example (i.e the system auto renewed their ad after 30 days and then they have changed it to a wanted ad, instead of the original ad, and republished).

The fix we will put in place will solve this one too.
