The mobile link in the "Reply to your posting" email is the same as the link to the normal site, so it's not possible to view the mobile version from the email.

Screenshot to explain what I mean:

Here's a response from the tech team:

"This is a bug. The mobile link should start with m.pistonheads.com/gassing....
I will raise a ticket for this and look into it."

We are slowly moving away from the m.pistonheads.com site... so in future that message should just have one link and the site will work on mobile or desktop... will be first few weeks in January to fix those January blues.

Will it still point to the mobile version of the website though? ie the forum will be clever enough to realise it's a mobile device?

The mobile site is actually one of the things I really like, it's actually a nice experience at the moment.

No doubt this update will just force ads onto the mobile version and make it unusable though.....

Yes, we should have something out end of the month.

Any news on this please? I use the mobile site a fair bit, and the "Reply to your posting" email alerts still point to the desktop site. Ta muchly.

We have a new skin (under My Preferences in the menu) called Beta2 - this will then show the forum in a nice mobile friendly view.

We are trialling it for a few weeks before rolling out as a default, but you can see if you like it now and feedback to us if you do (or not).

Dear God.

All these years users of this site have strived to keep the forum clean and simple to read and navigate.

You've turned it into Auto Trader and moved everything around for no need. Why in earth is my stuff and what's new at the bottom??

You also can't see what you type when you get to the bottom of the text box unless you leave the box and scroll up.

Formatting and image control is useful though (I'm trying to be less negative these days). wink

Thanks for the feedback.
What's new and my stuff are frequently used actions across the site (according to stats) so we have made them more convenient to access.

Not sure what you mean by the text input being hidden. Is this on an iPhone? When you load the page?

Android 4.4.4 using Dolphin Browser.

As you type a reply the cursor moves down the text box, slowly it disappears behind the images at the bottom of the screen and to move the screen up you have to select out of the box and scroll the page up, then return back to typing.

Further to the previous comments I'm also using a Galaxy Note 4 and it has a pretty big high res screen. The spacing between the posts and the "wasted" space really does make the new skin quite cumbersome to use on a mobile device. I currently use Big Blue in Mobile mode in the browser and it loads quick, looks clean and is very easy to read.

Hi, the beta2 layout on mobile keeps the desktop layout with tiny text.

The "beta mobile" on the other hand is a great improvment. Wish I Had found it earlier! Using galaxy s4 with chrome.

Do you sign up forum users as beta testers? I'd be keen.

Both interesting feedback.

If possible can you provide screen shots of what you see - just makes it easier for us to understand the issues/frustrations you have.

We do have some test features which we pass on to users, as well as early screenshots of development we are doing for feedback - PM me if you want to get involved.
