Intermittent slowdown
Discussion
Ok not the biggest problem in the world. But "My Stuff" page took about 10 seconds to load. And it's only got about 12 topics in it.
Same for http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/
Then they were nice and snappy. Then same again with the slowness the next time.
I suspect one or more of the servers might need a lemsip and a hug.

I posted this last week - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I think when Garlick left he took the formula for the special hamster feed with him.
When mine goes slow it's always waiting for socratos etc.
I don't think they care any more.

There are probably several factors at play here for the different reports of slowness...
The one I have control of is if the database is running slow and we can look at optimising the queries - third party components are slightly trickier to get a handle on as they could be coming from anywhere.
So - is this happening all the time on My Stuff for you - or is it because of the page waiting for third party stuff on occasion?

Just had a slow load of "My Stuff" and at the bottom of the page in Chrome it said "Resolving Host...."The one I have control of is if the database is running slow and we can look at optimising the queries - third party components are slightly trickier to get a handle on as they could be coming from anywhere.

It's taken a while until it happened again so I'd thought it had cleared up/was and advert or such. Of course it still might be slow resolving the host for an ad server.
Looking at logs over the past few weeks it seems it isn't database related, so looks more like adverts.
As part of our clean up of the forums work we are currently undertaking, we will make sure that any ads loading on the page do not (as much as we can) affect the ability, or at least the loading, of the content on the site.
Will keep an eye out for any issues myself too.

Same here - socratos has been causing slow loading for me all morning. When mine goes slow it's always waiting for socratos etc.
I don't think they care any more.
And I'm on a leased line here with no speed issues at all.
PH as a site is taking an exponential downturn in quality.
