No doubt been mentioned, but I am amazed it's been left for so long as it really makes the classifieds section look a bit amateur with such an obvious mistake left permanently.
When you are searching for a car, you select your manufacturer and then when you go to select your model, every model of that manufacturer is preselected and you have to deselect them all before you select them which is obviously ludicrous.
Nobody in history has ever said "hmmm, I will buy a Ford but I have no idea which model so I shall view them all".

In fact, in saying that- there is a suggestion too.
Have a search by size. Many people decide what size car they want and browse alternatives. So, for example, if I searched for a 3 series have another button that browses similar cars?
Or have you got one?

The search boxes for the make and model selection are a constant discussion in PH towers.

The way we do search allows people to select multiple makes and models from the homepage search, something none of our competitors do at the moment from their initial search. This means technically that the search only uses the model selection to do the search (So ignores the make selection, apart from displaying it back). The challenge is searching all makes (our data shows that this is done by people) as we have to know all the models under that make to send to the search system.... so more a technical issue with our search technology to solve.

The user experience is not the best for this, and we are looking at how we can improve it (while working on other issues that we deem more important at the moment - e.g. making sure our site is working properly across phone, tablet and desktop).... Unfortunately we have a very small development team and thus work has to be prioritised according to the value we will gain back.

You should see an improvement to how these make/model selections work within the next couple of months.
