how to quote a thread posting?

Apologies for being a bit thick, but could some kind soul tell me how to cut & paste part of an earlier thread posting into a reply, so that it appears in a border/box? Can this quoting be done above and below my reply? Thanks, much appreciated.

You can click the Quote button to quote the entire post, or use quote tags to quote a part of it.

(remove the spaces from the quote tags)

It's a manual process if you want to insert bits of quote amongst other text.

looks fine. The quote button just puts the last line of your post into the "reply topic" box so maybe it's a tech issue - new tablet. Copy/paste seems to have a mind of its own too so will have a play around. Appreciate the info, ta.

Thanks all: looks fine now. Problem seems to have been with my tablet throwing some sort of tantrum (and my failing to spot the quote/quote all buttons....sigh...)
