I'm getting this on my iPad and my work computer: typing a post is bizarrely slow, with characters appearing on screen a second or several seconds after I type them, as if they are being buffered.

Not an issue on any other sites. This is PH-specific.

Well, testing is my game and frankly I'm staggerghasted at the omnishambles that seems to permanently surround the construction of this site.

Ditto - there seems to be a bit of javascript messing with the input.

I'll go so far as to suggest it's that "post_char_count" monstrosity that's supposed to prevent anything over 4000 characters being posted. I know it's polite to tell people they're too verbose wink, but what's wrong with just setting a maxlength and letting the browser handle it ?

And if you have to keep it - stop making it do arithmetic on every single character - bad coding!

Yet I hold all the facts, and you hold all the opinions wink

I invite you to come down for a day, we will even buy you lunch, and you can understand more of the processes, issues and workings of PistonHeads so we can change that statement around.

Oh, and I forgot to add that is fixed as it got missed off a feature switch and was rolled out too early.

One good thing has come from the site changes; I've learnt an excellent new word that could have been invented to describe the company I work for thumbup

An open day with lunch thrown in? I'm not really up for a whole day, just a nose about and see what you all look like etc

Can we all come? Shall I start a list?

OK, we could do a morning followed by lunch (for those that can stay) - happy to entertain a small group, but of the most vocal criticisers so I can persuade you round smile

I am sure we can sort out a date that works.... as for your day rate, ummmm is it more than the cost of lunch in our local pub? wink
