Naming and shaming on PH??
Discussion
How explicit can you be on here, I've got a large post which I want to share with members about a fairly well known independent dealership, but before I post it, I'd like to know what does and doesn't fly on here.
I'm not going to bad mouth them out of turn, everything I say will be factual and have plenty of evidence to support it if needs be... but the catalogue of woe and misery that I've been put through by these backstreet cowboys masquerading as a genuine and reliable company needs to be shared so people can make a more informed decision pre-purchase... unlike the glowing reports which I read before buying from them.
Cheers,
Grant

I think the company line is that you can't say anything that identifies the offender. That said, plenty of people post clues that are good enough for an ID. Alternatively you could say something along the lines of 'if you're buying a car from an independent in [insert town/city] please PM me...'

This sort of comment does not fly well, and probably the reason they have a no naming and shaming policy, someone can go from I'm not going to bad mouth, everything will be factual, to calling a company cowboys, within a single sentence. There would be very little required to point people in the correct direction and I don't want my post binned for crossing a line... hence the question before I put it all out there.ging84 said:

Anything I say is obviously just my opinion based on real events. However, believe me, when I share my experience then I'd be surprised if others didn't share that opinion... but as I said above, I don't want to cross a line in the post, so would like to know what does and doesn't get a red flag from moderators/admin.

In a nutshell the posted link, No names, no locations, and no guesses by word association.
As you say whatever you post is only one side of the equation.
Any naming and shaming on the forums and the post will be removed, it just gets too expensive and HM are not prepared to enter into any legalities that may prevail.

Yeah that's perfectly fine by me and what will likely happen... as I say, there will be no need to actually name them, they're well known enough to be recognisable.Cheers,
Grant
