Happy to be corrected, but I assume S, P and L is intended for speeding, parking, traffic, policing etc. threads.

It seems to be more and more common that posts with absolutely nothing to do with motoring are being posted there. It's quite clear to me from the section title that the 'law' aspect relates to road traffic laws and motoring legislation.

Surely that's what the more specific sub-sections are for?!

Might be clear to you, but luckily you don't make the rules. The name is Speed, Plod and the Law. Not Speed, Plod and the Law as interpreted by Matt.

Hardly an unreasonable assumption though.

I assumed it was to do with the legal aspects of taking amphetamines and then walking slowly everywhere. I think it's about time PH clamped down on the blatant misuse of this, admittedly, niche sub-forum.

I've never thought it to be a 'motoring law' only forum.

There are so may knowledgeable people - come back Breadvan72 - that it would be a waste to limit it to motoring questions only.

I think you are nearly alone in that thought. It covers a wide range of topics under the law.

Find me one part of PH that is under any sort of control?

Anyway FWIW I've never thought of SP&L as being only for motoring related legal issues and I have had some really useful advice in there over the years on both motoring and non-motoring issues.
