re:spam email in response to car ads.

Same as last time, they are just after the real email address. Is there something that you can do to stop this ?

So after a week of advertising my car I've had two emails that I suspect are just after my real email address (to what purpose I don't really know). And a 3rd who I am suspect of but I'll wait and see how this one pans out.

I have my car on ebay, autotrader and here and all the scammers are from this website so far.

As you've suspected, the emails are sent to you to harvest your email address. Once they have it, they will send you a phishing email. As a general rule of thumb, Outlook/GMX are used for spam. We've also noticed a lot of Gmail addresses that contain a + symbol.

This kind of spam is hard to stamp out, we're hoping to trial a CAPTCHA code soon, to see how effective it will be against the bots. If you are unsure of any email you get through our site, give us a call or send an email to [e-mail] and I'll take a look.

Third one isn't a bot. I suspect this one will not go any further after I refused to send a copy of the V5/MOT. I'll send you the email address if you could check that for me.

3rd is now SPAM as is this one just in......Emma/Peter will ask for the reg and then a copy of the MOT/V5. If they got a copy of the MOT/V5 what the next step would be I don't know, maybe a late night visit.
