It's obviously been moved to the Moderators area, so maybe they can shed some light on the situation?
I would have asked in the thread but can't, for obvious reasons

I guess they are discussing the merits of letting it run as a topic in GG or moving it to website feedback? It's obviously been moved to the Moderators area, so maybe they can shed some light on the situation?

I get your point but is it actually dissent or is it reasonable discussion?
I saw the original post but not subsequent replies so can't comment on whether or not the thread descended into anarchy and vitriol.
Disappointing that this seems to have been pulled, yet threads in NP&E that are borderline xenophobic/racist or just downright unsavoury are allowed to continue, all in the name of reasonable discussion.......

Dissent, pistonheads is a money making entity the mods don't need people on here trying to discourage people being here, its reduces revenue. As for the unsavoury stuff well that needs moding but isn't quite as clear cut.I saw the original post but not subsequent replies so can't comment on whether or not the thread descended into anarchy and vitriol.

Website feedback is for you to tell us how we can improve the site for you the end user, which we are focussing heavily on in the New Year, investing both a considerable amount of development time and a financial injection also. ( I know this might fall on deaf ears)
So come on guys help us by using this thread to tell us what you want, what bugs you about the site, what we can do to better things.

And the reason that it will fall on deaf ears is that PH have been saying exactly the same thing since Haymarket took over, and the only change that most of us can see are the adverts.... But these comments/ arguments seem to fall on deaf ears over your way.Now we have launched the new classifieds platform, which was the main focus of all development work we are now focussing our efforts into the forums. We a meeting with The Board in January to discuss all ideas suggestions they have. Also we are bringing all suggestions made in this forum to that meeting.
Following that we will then allocate time to the developers and integrate these ideas into the current platform.
It's not going to happen overnight but these are the first steps forwards which will get the ball is rolling and once started should gather considerable momentum
So tell us what you want.

Being blunt Ollie people have been telling PH what bugs them for months, if not years. My opinion as I'm putting of a bit of work...
Too much advertising. It's working against Haymarket as it's driven a good proportion to adblockers. (I'm sure you saw the survey).
Clean lines good. Ancient technology bad. It would be nice to be able to 'like' something (saves endless +1's), and it would be nice to have a decent text editor to allow easy formatting and photo's. Being able to insert Youtube into a thread instead of a link would be a nice to have.
Advertising - stop it doing anything nasty like auto-start video/sound
More consistent moderation. When arguments develop have moderators step-in to calm them down and get the thread on-track. Too often the arguments actually don't help the OP at all.
Decent mobile site. I have no idea how many times you've tried to redevelop the mobile site, but it still does not seem to work properly.
I understand your frustrations and HM are now aware that there will be soon be tipping point if nothing is done hence the planned activity for the new year.
Like I said I'm cataloging all feedback from you the members for detailed discussion with all parties from the Dev team to the Directors.. and yes the Ad team will be included!
Already there is a small divide amongst people some are for a radical change and some like and prefer the clean simple structure that has been the blueprint for many years so we will be working to find that balance between the two.
Thanks guys
Ollie

I want freedom from censorship
Since we can't discuss closed threads, or bans, or anything else, (referring to recent events in SP&L) I would like to repeat the above. What a poor show when a forum acts like North Korea.Edited by CoolHands on Thursday 7th January 20:53

Id like to see better vetting of adverts, of their size, compatibility with all browsers and content.
We are also working closely with our advertisers on recommending how they create better ads to the targeting they can now get, so that their ads are seen more as content than intrusive advertising. I do appreciate the occasionally annoying ad comes through through the trading channels we have. We are working hard to stop these and, speed up our response times when they occur. This is constantly being assessed and there is continued investment in both process and people and for 2016 we have significant development planned a much more customer focused experience across both the website and the forums
With regards to the freedom of censorship:
PistonHeads is a private forum with set rules and regulations to ensure that it continues to be a fun place to discuss, debate and enjoy yourself without causing offence. Supporting our affiliated moderators, the site is also self moderated via the community and offensive poss are reported by such members who are offended by posts that break such rules. Therefore to have unbridled free speech would degrade the quality of a community, so such restrictions are necessary for maintaining a quality of service.
How would you react if you were hosting a party at your home for your friends, family, and community members, and someone waltzes in and starts treating your other guests rudely, maybe being racist, offensive or rowdy, you would ask them to tone it down and if they persisted you would ask them to leave?
